Frequently Asked Questions

When auto-sync is turned on, Post to Xero posts orders in real-time, as they come through in Shopify. 

You can also choose to sync orders manually.

Post to Xero supports any gateway that is available on Shopify. That includes Shopify Payments, Paypal, Afterpay, Klarna, etc.

Payment gateway fees can also be configured and posted to the relevant fee accounts in Xero.

Absolutely. Once a gift card liability account is chosen, any purchases of gift cards will get booked to that account.

Any orders using gift cards will debit that gift card liability account accordingly.

For most stores, our simple set up process takes less than 5 minutes.

We recommend having one to help you set up your store’s Chart of Accounts and workflow.

However, if you don’t have an accountant, Post to Xero is straight forward and easy to use that you just need to connect it to Xero and map default accounts which we can guide you through.

Shopify only allows us to read store orders that are 60 days prior, so that’s how far back we can go.

If you need to go back further, reach out to us and we can work out options with Shopify.

If an Item is set up in Xero with the right COGS and Inventory accounts that matches a Product’s SKU in Shopify, Post to Xero will handle COGS and Inventory adjustments natively based on what is set up in Xero.

Yes, transactions from Shopify POS gets posted automatically with the ability to split POS sales into a separate account in Xero for better tracking and reporting.

At the moment, orders are sent individually to Xero, ie. every order will create an invoice in Xero. However, batching of invoices is the top requested feature and something we’re building out right now.
